Get to Go
Now that you people have got me moving without whiplash. How do I get my cart to go faster than 16.4 MPH?

Re: Get to Go
no luck searching for a "removing governor" thread, hey? I'll check with my buddy who has a 93 4-stroke, if I remember it had something to do with zip-tying the governor spring - I'll get back to you tomorrow (unless someone else jumps in first)

Re: Get to Go
Well I changed my rear ties back to 18x8.50-8 they were 22x11.00-8
Now my speed has dropped from 16.4 MPH to 12.3 MPH :( I'm thinking a lift kit may be in order. :) The 22's only bounced off the fender every bump or two. ;) Now to goto town on the gov Mark |

Re: Get to Go
Cranked it in about 1/4" and it got all the way up to 13.3 MPH It seemed that was it. I had more peddle but it made no difference.
Tuned up or is that about all I'm going to get? Without putting the 22s back on. Mark |

Re: Get to Go
My cart is licensed to drive in the village now. And the speed limit is 20 MPH.
I didn't think 20 MPH was all that fast for a cart is it??? Mark |

Re: Get to Go
Took the governor nut all the way in 1/2" and got up to 13.6 It goes to that point and holds. Up or down makes no difference.
I would like to get to 20.0 MPH So I'm guessing a lift kit and bigger tires is the next step. I do just happen to have a small medical grade bottle of NO2 laying around some where. Just a little smaller than a scuba tank. A left over from the 70's Mark |

Re: Get to Go
I put the 22x11.00 8 tires back on. I'm up to 17.7 MPH Gov nut in 1/2" and no more thread. I think I'm at the limit. It has plenty of get up and go. And my village has no hills. I hit 19 when I went to the burn pile. It's a small valley where you take your grass, tree limbs, and leaves to be burned. No more than 20' down. When I am going down the street I have noticed that there is plenty of foot peddle left. Almost at the half way point it makes no difference in engine RPMs. Can I put a dwell meter on it to see the RPMs?
Is this my limit without doing something radical? Also I am in need of a lift kit. 93 marathon E-Z-GO ;) I'm not that mechanical. And have no welder near me. Mark |
