Default Who has switched to a shorter 2 stroke drive belt??

Looking for opinions and reviews. We're taking the cart out again nect weekend and I'm looking for better acceleration and performance. I've read through the forums but it gets murky, 2 stroke, 4 stroke, etc..... so I'm looking for 2 stroke owners who have switched to a shorter drive belt. I'd like to hear reviews, maybe see some part numbers?? Maybe clear things up a little. Thanks

Well you can count me in. I went from the standard 45 inch belt to the DAYCO HP3004 belt which is 44 1/8. That 7/8 inch made a huge difference. Acceleration and hill climbing performance increase and to be honest I was expecting the top speed to go down but I used the GPS to measure it at 21mph on the flat and that is plenty fast enough for me.
As a warning fitting the 2004 was a tad hard, I would not go below 1 inch shorter as you might not be able to wind it on.

How did it drive while breaking in? How long did it take to break in?

I'm with dave. Don't go below 1inch. I did and it was tough getting it on. A far cry from the 45 inch that was on it. But it did go on with a little work.

Took what I would think 2 tank fulls of gas. At first wanted to creep a bit while starting but drove it as normal then the true break in was when granddaughter came over and used it all day. LOL Very good take off and can feel the clutch shift to the high side. I LIKE

Thx, we're taking it out again Friday for a long weekend so I probably shouldn't install it before we go. I'm thinking a break in on vacation is probably not gonna be fun.

Well I just took the inaugural run with the spanking-new HP3004 as versus my stock belt ... And all I can say so far is "meh". OK, it seems to take off a bit smoother and whatnot (as expected) but I live at an old ski resort so we have PLENTY of hills and to be honest, on the big ones it almost seemed to ROB me of power (might be a different story with 2 on the cart though, we'll see) - I almost liked the old feeling the worn stock belt gave me as it allowed the cart to wind up a bit before kicking in, not as smooth but given my driving style (which tends to be on the agressive side) it almost seems like the cart is smoother and more consistant now but less "fun" ...

I'll give it a couple of days and do some more testing with the GPS for speed, on a few different grades and pitches, surfaces, etc before I rush to judgement
