Default Squeal noise

On my 84 Gas ezgo there is a odd noise coming from the primary clutch or Starter/generator area. There close to each other so it's hard to pin point. It's a squeal type of noise. It only does it at low revs, when you first hit the gas and when it is almost to a stop. It is quit loud and don't know if it's normal. I just purchased the cart and has been doing it the whole time. It's also my first cart so know little and need help. Thanks Guy's

Sure its coming from around the starter gen?

Almost sounds a bit like a loose drive belt squeaking on start up/slow down when the clutch engages/disengages.

And yes, this is not abnormal if you have an old worn drivebelt. My cart does this, and I need to go get a new belt, but I just keep procrastinating on it.

It's hard tp pinpoint, If I had to guess it's coming form the clutch down by the crankshaft. If i give it gas but not enough to have the belt engage it still does it. I hope it is just the drive belt that would be an easy fix..

Try wire brushing the sides of the starter belt.

Try winding the drive belt off and running the engine. Be gentle with the throttle the clutch prefers to be under load.

Also, try moving the clutch up and down by hand and see if it moves. The squealing could be the sign of a failing bearing.
