88 marathon 244cc specs??
i am new to this site. but i have a 1988 marathon i just purchased. and i am curious what size hp and rpms my 244cc is. and also what size the output shaft size is. i am thinking about changing the motor out all together. thanks.

Welcome to the forum , tha 89 has a tapered shaft as all 2 cycles do , I think it's a 9 hp and should turn somthing around 3500 to 4000 rpm on a good day , the engine cranks foward and backwards this is how it has foward and reverse , only 2 cycle engins do this so anything you change to will need to be 2 cycle or no reverse many parts for the 88 engine fit the 88 only most of the rest of them cover several year models with parts .

Shaft is 1" before it starts to taper.
