Default belt

I have a 2005 ez-go with the 295 Robin and stock everything!!! I was wondering what a shorter drive belt would do to the cart? Can anyone explain? Thanks

A shorter drive belt will make the cart take off almost immediately and have a slower top speed if it is too short.

In a perfect world the belt will be exactly the right length to allow slippage when the motor is first started and be at the top of the clutch pully and the bottom of the drive pulley when the motor is at full speed. Any stretching of the belt is compensated for by adjusting the distance between the motor and the axle.

I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but a belt that is too short or too long will make a cart slower than it could be (everything else being equal).

No problem! Even though I drive a sparky I do get to work on some gas buggies occasionally. If you are having problems with jerky starts, there could be some clutch and pully issues that need maintenance or replacement. I'll leave that to the more experienced members.
