What's my options for this cart?
I have a cart that's old but the motor is very strong (for a ton of hours that is).
What I would like to do is, get this motor rebuilt and put it in a new cart frame. The frame on this cart is completely worn out but the motor seems to be a good one. I live in a neighborhood with several other carts around and this joker is faster and stronger than most all of them ( it smokes and burns oil though) How much is an average rework job on the motor? How much is a newer frame to put this reworked motor in? Is it worth the money or should I just trade it on a new gas cart? What info can you tell me based on the serial numbers? EXGO gas cart 2 plugs 4 stroke motor. Serial numbers 678849 Manuf Code DO192 Where should I look at for a frame to put this motor in IF I take that route? |

Re: What's my options for this cart?
That is the 295 Robins motor. Ezgo used the same motor for a decade and also used a bigger 350cc model of the same engine in the workhorse.... I would sell and look for a newer gas cart

Re: What's my options for this cart?
You have a 4 stroke 295 cc engine Model Year 1992. If you want to keep it, that's fine depending on your needs. If you are mechanically inclined, it's easy to eliminate the smoking issue. There are threads and technical info in this website.
Solve the rusted chassis issue either by removing the rusted part and replace by welding with new ones. The front spindles and kingpins may have to be addressed. The secondary clutch probably needs new ramp shoes (3 needed). Replace your drive belt. Replace the tranny oil. Check squeaking, binding and bearings with play. You will probably spend less than US$300. For a newer cart, my estimate is no less than 2K even after selling your old cart for parts. Your call depending on your wallet, needs and ego (you want to race your cart!). |

Re: What's my options for this cart?
Thanks for the helps fella's. Just wasn't sure. Wanted to make sure I wasn't selling something I would later regret (after getting advise from someone who knows what the hell I got). Sounds like I just need a newer cart. I just wasn't sure why this cart seems to be faster than the other carts around. Again, I just wanted to make sure before I sold it. Didn't want someone to tell me later "man that was the best motor they put in a cart".
Thanks again. . |

Re: What's my options for this cart?
Wouldn't have any idea? Seems like a long ways away from Georgia though..
What would this cart be worth? Guess it would help if I took pictures and posted. Sight unseen how much would this cart be worth. If I said it's in "good shape" for it's age.. That question is posted for anyone to answer also.. |
