Default EZGO workhorse 350cc won't start and run

I have a 1996 ezgo with 350cc Robin. Will not start an run properly. It backfires through carb and will occasionally start and run for a minute or so. After all the backfiring and spitting it runs very smoothly no missing or anything but then it just dies and becomes hard to start and starts the backfiring etc all over again. Items done so far, new carb and cleaned new carb properly, new fuel lines, new gas, valves adjusted, timing belt set on marks, new fuel filter, new air cleaner, oil changed. Fuel pump is working properly. Any ideas.

To start with, a compression tester cost about US$ 20. Now on the issue: check carb float.

yes (tester) checking around, thanks. They are not $20 but nevertheless. The float?? Sits parallel--yes-- not leaking--goes up and down--yes, what is your angle on the float--curious what your thinking?

Angle should be 90 degrees. On the compression tester, bought one 6 months ago for some US$22. Try Harbor Freight.

not degree angle ---rephrase--what do you mean by check carb float? Check what? Float is on brand new carb setting parallel moving up and down....etc. what else would you be checking? i found compression tester at harbor freight for 24.98 no prob.

90 degrees is right angle. That means parallel to the ground if the cart is sitting/standing on level ground.

worqhors --ok now you are just getting silly. no need for that. and please do not post any more solutions to this porblem I am looking for professional answers to a possible carb or fuel delivery problem. If you had read earlier post there is no problem with the float so no need to explain geometry and gravity. I was hoping this site would help but not so much. thanks.

dduffett, you are clearly new to this site but I suspect not new to the human race. Have you noticed that your attitude has won you very few friends? That is no way to speak to someone who has volunteered his time to try to help you. You're looking for professional answers, then take your cart and your problem to a dealer and pay up. Don't come skulking around here insulting folks that are trying to help you.
