Default Help Please

So The brackets were broke on my starter generator on the 84 marathon I bought. I had them welded .

The problem now is the wiring got mixed up and I forgot to label what goes where

Does anyone know which wire goes to which contact. There are 4 red wires and 1 green wire. If you could either explain in words or with a pic that would be great.

I know there are 2 posts on the side of the generator labeled with letters and numbers, a very small post near the bottom on the side that I'm pretty sure the green wire goes to, then there are two posts on the side opposite the pulley.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Sam,

The generator/starter has four 1/4" posts. The two posts on the end of the generator/starter (pointing towards the front of the cart) are the Armature connections. The two posts on the circumference are the Field connections. On mine the F1 is on the passenger side and the F2 is on the drivers side. A1 is on the passenger side and A2 is on the drivers side. On my generator/starter the A and F markings are pretty clear and easy to see.

There are four connections on the forward/reverse switch. If you were standing at the rear of the cart looking forward the following connections apply:

The A2 terminal is connected to the left post of the forward/reverse switch.

The A1 terminal goes to the right post on the forward/reverse switch.

The F1 terminal goes to the top post of the forward/reverse switch.

The F2 terminal goes to the starter solenoid.

The small green wire goes to your voltage regulator.

I know this setup works as I had the starter motor running in forward and reverse today. I just can't bolt the clutch onto the crank because I don't have the bolt!
