Default 81 marathon lift help

I installed a 4in. lift on my cart 1981 gas the rear are the round spacers that just slip over the factory spring mounts. My problem is the spring vibrates almost a harmonic vibration on the lower half of the spring mount. It sounds like S**t you can hear it coming 1/2 block away. I raped the upper and lower part of the mount that fits in the spring with rubber ( a old bicycle inter tube) and that stopped the noise but the tube went south in less than a day. My thought is can I eliminate the spring altogether and replace it with a coil over shock. something like this http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=294406 Has anyone ever done this what do you think.

Thanks

Chuck

i think that would work, another option is what if you coated the whole sprint with that green goop you buy for tools? not sure if your hearing metal on metal or what, but that goop stuff should hold up.

If you figure out which coil overs to go with can you post the part number? I have a 94 that does the same thing. Thanks!
