Wire colors mean nothing. They could have been replaced in the last 30 years.

The B terminal of the ignitor should be connected to the small positive terminal of the solenoid. That is the same one that is connected to your pedal switch.

The diagram also shows a wire with a black dot on the ignitor going to the D- of the voltage regulator. The black dot is where the ignitor mounting screw is. That wire connects to any grounding point. It does not have to go to the voltage regulator.

Hey guys,

I just had the coil on my 1983 Marathon 2PG quit. I've read this post and I'm assuming that there is no good reason that this won't work on a 2PG. Surly I will get far better spark and ignition. The "High Energy" part of "High Energy Ignition" will be of benefit to this engine.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Chuck

Works great on my 2pg. Have msd coil with it, starts much better. Really notice it when cold. I use mine to plow snow, so starting cold is important to me!

1991 Marathon 2 cycle- What do I do with the wires on the stock ignitor that are not listed in the conversion? (Yellow/orange and orange wires) Do they just get eliminated?
