Re: Marathon Roll Cage plans/Pics
If you can't find something you like, find someone local to where you are that work on or builds drag race car's and get them to bend you one up.
I didn't like anything I seen so we decided to bend my own. I went to an electrical supply and bought some bent electrical conduit as scrap and bent it the way I wanted it no prints or drawings. I think it turned out OK, its a little tall but I'm 6'5". Tubing was 20.00, top was 200.00 and windshield was about 100.00 thats just parts no labor. Re: Marathon Roll Cage plans/Pics
I personally wish to ask, what is your issue.
Is it to safeguard you and you riders of serious trauma, or for looks ?? I am the kind of guy that loves, LOVES better safe than sorry. I was a driver owner with a stockcar and the cage was WAY WAY too important. When I get the buggy of mine and Ma's up and modded, I am going to do it for heavy love of life. Yes it may be a top heavy issue also BUT, with modd's of proper to make sure of stance of wheel base, and center of gravity, and other points are ALL going to fall into play. Think of it as a Nascar builder. They do NOT want to have ANY top weight, but because of the design, less metal is used and the possible injury is minor. If a flip is to happen, the roll is absorbed into the cage, frame, body, ect, and away from the driver. The new car of today has features that even include the driver being more into the middle of the center, and away from the side impact. Like I said in the beginning, what is your issue or function going to be that can also include the design of your seat. |

Re: Marathon Roll Cage plans/Pics
The cage is a mixture of both worlds. My cart runs 60 plus mph So safety is my number one concern. My father in law used to bend/build boat aluminum so he has all the equipment. I have a drag car with a roll cage so i know that safety is first. BUT i want it to look cool too. I would think conduit wouldnt have enough wall thickness. I was thinking about building out of 1/14''. I just wanted to see some that ppl have built for the Marathon cart.

Re: Marathon Roll Cage plans/Pics
Maybe this might help some.
I am NOT sorry to say it should NOT matter if it is on a cart, nascar, drag something, ECT, is if it flips is to have the design of transfer of impact away from the driver. http://www.google.com/search?q=roll+...ient=firefox-a |

Re: Marathon Roll Cage plans/Pics
onlyonmonday I totally agree. My cart is very fast and was never designed for these speeds. SAFETY is my top concern. did we say or do something wrong to get in trouble with racin 161?
