Default Need some ideas for a tow strap

I have a 92 Marathon, lifted 4", with 22" tires. I take it off road alot, so I went out and bought a tow strap, but the problem is, that I have a step on the back, so I really dont have anyplace to hook it in the back. I really dont want to spend the $$ on a hitch, beings I wont ever be towing a trailer, so I would like to just mount some kind of hook or something on the rear, just something to hook a strap to. And on the front, I dont have any place to hook other than the plate on the front axle, that has the hole in it. Is it safe to mount a hook on that, or is that a bad idea. If anyone has some pics of a Marathon that has something like this on it, I would like to see them.

Towing by the front axle where the hole is should work ok, thats where the tow bars that golf courses use hooks. Don't know what to tell you about the back, most people install A hitch.

If you have a tube across the back for a bumper you might try installing an eye bolt and fender washers and then double bolt it. Myself I would weld it in but I have toys to play with. Do yo have any sort of front bumper?

If the step would allow it then you could use a shackle such as this one: http://secure.mycart.net/catalogs/ca...prodid=5025286 and drill a hole for it to go thru the step and around the tube. That way you could remove it and pitch it in the glovebox or bagwell area. How much stress could the step take?? As long as the cart wasn't buried, and you wouldn't be yanking too hard on the step, then it might work out just fine. Just a thought. Good luck!!

This would work great, but I would need three quarter inch one, and they are over $100!! But this is kind of the idea that I was thinking, so if I can find one that is less expencive, I might try that. Thanks.

I dont have a front bumper yet, but I am hoping to have one in the furure. I would like to add a winich to the cart sometime soon too.

Can you still get to the rear bumper or does the back seat block it? If you can still get to it drill a hole in it and but a big eye bolt in it, every marathon i had, had one on it.
