wont start/ timing?
i bought a ezgo non running 2000 txt with a 295. it seems to be timing? has air, spark, fuel. new carb, new plugs, new air filter, new 1.5qts oil, adjusted valves (150psi). it sounds like it will almost start but wont do it. im guessing timing because its blowing gas out of the carb. any thoughts? i pulled the 3 bolts on the timing cover but cant get it off with no clutch puller to see the marks. the belt looks good and is nice and tight, i was hoping that wasnt the case.

Re: wont start/ timing?
If the gas comes out on the carb, check the timing marks. Could be totally reversed.

Re: wont start/ timing?
i checked the timing marks they were on. what could be reversed? does the cam spin 2 times for every rotation of the crank like a car? can it be 180 out? none of this stuff has ever been apart. how could t get 180 out?

Re: wont start/ timing?
Yep just like a car. 4 stroke. With the valve cover off rotate the engine slow and watch the valves. Make sure the valve your adjusting is on the low side of the cam. After adjusting run it through one more time slow to make sure you have the adjustment you want on that valve. I to don't see how the timing could be out if its gear driven and the marks are alined. You may want to check your compression on both cylinders to see what you have but if the valves aren't opening you will have compression. Re: wont start/ timing?
well like i said there is a learning curve. it does have compression. both cylinders are coming up at exactly the same time? what? broken crank? why would both cylinders come up at the same time? time to get into the crankcase

Re: wont start/ timing?
Both cylinders fire at the same time...No problem there...They are suppost to come up at the same time.
