Default Cart Stereo Advice

Guys, looking to add a stereo to my 1996 EZGO txt this winter. Here are some questions I'd love your input on:

- Do I need to buy waterproof marine speakers? I'm thinking no, but curious to see what you guys think
- Would you recommend an amp in addition to the receiver deck? Probably dont need it for the power, but curious on opinions.

Any particular brands or sites that you'd recommend checking out for the units? Thanks in advance!

i went with no head unit. just a 400 watt 2 channel amp and 4 speakers 2 facing down under the cup holders, and 2 facing up in the cover between the seats. all are not marine but the rears probably need to be cause they fill up with mud and water haha

I don't have one on my cart but I do on my boat,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PYLE-MAR...item5ae4d2446c

I know is pretty loud on my boat w/out a amp, I don't know what kind of batt power you have on your cart, if you're like me I only have the starting batt so if I used a amp I'd be really careful how long I'd use the radio, without running the cart If you just used the radio head unit w/out an amp you could run the radio by it's self for, I'd say an easy 2.5-3 HRS w/out any problems

I hope this helps

I couldn't decide what cart to put my stereo in. So I got a rubbermaid tool box of decent size. I put in a sony deck with remote and AUX front plug in. I cut 4 speakers in the sides and installed a car battery inside along with 2 10" kenwood typhoons a 600 watt amp and a 1 farad cap with a digital volt meter. I then installed a subwoofer box screw down style wire connector and I cut the leads off an old battery charger. I screw those on the connector and it clips to the battery of what ever cart I'm driving. With the on board battery it will play for about 36 hours and the deck cuts out at 9.4 volts. I also installed a cigarette plug to charge my ipod as it plays. My wife loves it and uses it all the time when she's out with her horse. I'll post pics if you guys want to see them.

88201, if I mainly want to play stuff from my smartphone, I'm thinking the amp only may be the way to go. Is it hard to wire an amp for a smartphone? Thanks in advance

rca to mini jack wire is all you need, their 5 bucks at targer or walmart.. i put a 1 hour spring timer as my on off (remote wire) switch for the amp so i will never forget to turn it off
