How do I BBQ my muffler
Hi,
This is my first post so I hope I get this right. From all the reading I've done in this WONDERFULL site I've read that you can BBQ a muffler? I have a 91' marathon 2 stroke and if I'm right that's a 3pg? Is this somthing I can do and how? I can't get over how much good info there is in this place. Thanks to everyone. :D |

I can't imagine any amount of sauce making a muffler taste any better. Stick with pork loin and chicken wings. You tummy will thank you for it, and so will all your guests!

Re: How do I BBQ my muffler
Grab a case of beer/bottle o whisky/tequila (pick your poison).
Build a big fire. Throw muffler in said fire. Watch fire come out both ends for a while (30-40min). Let fire burn out and/or fish muffler out of fire once you stop seeing flames come out of it (depending on what you picked for step one, it might be safer just to leave the thing in there for a while. Paint with bbq or exhaust paint Enjoy! |

Re: How do I BBQ my muffler
Most of these marathons have had pretty low key lives put putting around. If they don't have the right oil mix (and probably even if they do after 20+years) they fill the muffler with unburnt sludge. This "cleans" it out for better/proper performance.
The tequila? Well it just makes the whole process more interesting. |

Re: How do I BBQ my muffler
Guess I need to stop and get a bottle of Juager and red bull so I can practice this art first then next weekend give it a try for real. Figure it will take two weeks of drinking to get the fire hot!!

Thanks hms11
That's kind of what I thought but I wasn't sure. Didn't want to break it. I run this thing pritty hard with 100:1 just trying to make all the power I can get. |

Re: How do I BBQ my muffler
At 100:1 your going to be looking at a top end rebuild if your running it hard. The proper mix is 128:1 or 1oz per gallon. Lean is fast for awhile no lube it's going to DIE.

Re: How do I BBQ my muffler
100:1 is more oil than 128:1 if I'm not mistaken.
