Exclamation What happens if you don't put the muffler on engine?

Hello when I just recently got my cart the muffler was unattached I was wondering how it would effect the engine if I did not place the muffler back on the cart... Because the one that came with it is a make shift one and I'm not sure I want to install it. Thanks

Welcome to BGW Need year but in any case performance will be greatly reduced especially on a 2 cycle as the exhaust pipe can be used for tuning purposes. You can extend or shorten a pipe for more low end or top end.Go carts - motorcycles and even the chainsaw guys have been doing it for years. At any rate at least attach some sort of pipe to the exhaust don't have
to be pretty and you could go from there. Others will chime in so stand by K

If you leave it off you will run a huge chance the valves and rings will burn out next. Go to the general discussion threads and look under stuff to trade someone there might have a muffler they want to get rid of.

If you run with out an exhaust system you will soot everything and accelerate the corrosion in the engine compartment. If the header pipe is solid start with that and fab up a system.
One of these may work for you.
