Time for engine rebuild? 2001 TXT 295cc
Unfortunately, I think the old girl is burning oil. Getting smoke out of the back and have been using more oil lately. Just wondering if there's anything I can check to remedy the problem or is burning oil pretty much always a sign of needing to do a rebulid? Thanks!

If cart is lifted, drain oil and tilt cart to make sure all drains out. Then fill with 1.5 qts.not to full line. Also check the compression.

Re: Time for engine rebuild? 2001 TXT 295cc
i have seen badly worn valve guides in the head cause oil burning to where the eng smokes.
doing a compress test is a so so test. if the rings are weak teh excess oil in the cyl will give you a false reading since liquid does not compress, but if you are below 150psi than you are on your way to a rebuild wethere there is oil in the cyl or not. |
