|  Time for engine rebuild? 2001 TXT 295cc Unfortunately, I think the old girl is burning oil. Getting smoke out of the back and have been using more oil lately. Just wondering if there's anything I can check to remedy the problem or is burning oil pretty much always a sign of needing to do a rebulid? Thanks! |

| Re: Time for engine rebuild? 2001 TXT 295cc If cart is lifted, drain oil and tilt cart to make sure all drains out. Then fill with 1.5 qts.not to full line. Also check the compression. |

| Re: Time for engine rebuild? 2001 TXT 295cc i have seen badly worn valve guides in the head cause oil burning to where the eng smokes. doing a compress test is a so so test. if the rings are weak teh excess oil in the cyl will give you a false reading since liquid does not compress, but if you are below 150psi than you are on your way to a rebuild wethere there is oil in the cyl or not. |
