Did you change the oil and clean the oil filter/screen?

sticky float valve maybe. will run well for a bit then start to die, leave for ten minutes or so, then will run again for a while?

Check the sticky posts for the valve adjustment and do that as a matter of course. If its a 2000 model and done six years work before laying up, then the valves almost certainly need adjustment. My bet is on the sticky float valve, particularly if stood with fuel in the carb for two years!!!!!!!

thanks colin...I kinda suspected maybee that after reading some threads from other members...I will try that ...I did do some fiddleing today...the gas is running very rich...gas in the air filter compartment.....black dry plugs...tried adjusting the govener..today it ran funny from the get...not much power....surging mildly...then die on me...no fuel in filter....then sit for ten or so and it starts and runs for a few...i also put carb cleaner right in the gas tank...to try and free anything sticking in the carb....when i ran it with the air filter out you could see gas coming out of carb...like it wasnt shuting off...maybe float?...thanks again

Cool Re: 2000 4 cycle gas e-z-go

I got motivated last night and adjusted the valves on my 295. It took about 10 minutes to do and I do notice an improvement when cold starting and re-starting when warmed up. This is a really simple thing to do to help your engine out. My neighbor has a Workhorse and we went ahead and adjusted his too.
