Default 89 fuel pump

Had a bad fuel pump so I found another one on a 2pg engine under the bench , now to start the engine I have to hit it with a little starting fluid and run the choke ½ open , while I had it open I found that I could see a light all the way around all the reed valves so I tightned them up so they don't show light , the fuel pump works but it came off of a 2pg engine and I put it on a 3 pg same bolt spacing and looks the same , gas just lightly flows out don;t have a lot of pressure ,, is there that much difference in the pumps ??? of cource it came off of an engine that was under the bench may not be any better than the old one except there is no crack in this one ( dang stumps and sticks )

Hey Goat try cleaning the screen on the pump it should be on the face and about the diameter of a cigarette butt. Try spraying it with a carb cleaner and then a soft brush like a old toothbrush.

Replaced the crank seals about 3 months ago or about 50 hours run time
did an upper rebuild about 2 years ago , don't have a compression gague but can't hold the compression with finger in spark plug hole .
does the filter placement have much to do with the pump ,mine is between the tank and the pump .

"on the face " isn't the screen inside the pump , would I need to take it apart to get to the screen ?
