Default Replacing Carb on 1987

I am a newbie to these golf carts, I have a backfire on my cart and I have tried many things to make it go away. I am going to replace the carb and gaskets. What is the easiest way to do this? I have never ripped one of these apart before.

Jump in and get dirty!! Backfiring can come from the throttle not returning all the way...Check your carb throttle position after you let off the throttle. it should return all the way. If it's not, this could be the cause of your backfire. Also, I believe if you get an exhaust leak and fresh air gets in the exhaust you can experience a backfire. Check both of those before getting $100 deeper into your project.

If both of those are ok, and you really want to replace the carb, start by popping off the throttle links and the choke link. Now remove the fuel line and plug the line with an old bolt or a golf tee or whatever you have. Now you are ready to remove the carb mounting bolts. The carb should now easily come off. Clean gasket surfaces and replace the gasket when installing the new carb. reassemble in reverse order. SAVE the old carb!! You never know if you will need a spare part!! Good luck!!
