There may be a bad connection inside the generator at that stud. How is the ground at the frame, near the battery?Any corrosion there will cause a bunch of issues.I've seen it enough times when cables get replaced, but the connection-points aren't cleaned.Hope this helps.

Smokin Just wondering why did you change cable and Battery? And when you did Did you also check the voltage regulator? It almost sounds as if you may be over charging the battery. or your reg. may be bad.

Yes there is a way to test it but I'll have to look and find the post this evening and get it to you.

Heat is one thing but to burn your thumb is totally another! As to the name "DOC" Burns should come from a 12v system.

If it is more than slightly warm to the touch, there is a problem.Heated connection mean bad connections,over-charging,or huge draws on the system. If the battery is shot,it will make the system work extra hard to maintain the regulated voltage set by the regulator. The stud will have to be tightened,You can remove the cable, and CAREFULLY! snug the nut against the case(just snug, don't kill it).
