Exclamation 2009 GAS RVX Speed PLEASE!

Note here: I'm speaking of a Gas cart with the Kawasaki 13HP engine.

I have now spent considerable time & effort in attempts to understand how to get more speed out of my recently purchased cart. I'm seeing a lot of info regarding changing the rear gears to a lower ratio HOWEVER I'm pretty technical and have found that the 2008+ RXV are using a Fuji Transaxle (EZGO # 606423) and everybody is talking about gears for the "Dana" rear end used prior to 2008.

Has anyone torn apart the "Fuji" rear end to change gears to a lower ratio? I'm getting nowhere with the EZGO Dealers as they don't want to open a "liability issue".

I'm also reading a bunch about changing the clutch from a 36degree to a lower arc to increase torque. But I am guessing that torque shouldn't affect top speed.

I'm also listening to stories concerning spring tension on the transaxle governor but I have tried the trick of a cable tie through the spring and while I'm getting more forced RPM's, I'm still not getting ground speed.

I'm not looking to do 40mph but l'd like to get it above 20mph.

Anyone with some specific "...I did this to my RXV..." experience would be greatly appreciated.

Jim

A simple fix for more top speed would be taller tires. This would be a trade off for power though.

tweaking the gov on that cart will get you to 20mph no problem. If you car came off a golf course it is set to only turn a certain RPM due to the way the accell cables are setup. I have had a do several 100 like this for a local golf course.

also any mods to your cart, lift, biggger tires, etc. a bigger tire will also increase yoru speed.

also since you have a RXV, nothing is the same as the other TXT, etc. you have a 1 of a kind cart. your cart also has a limited slip rear diff. they all came like this. basically RXV is RXV and TXT is TXT.

On Ebay they offer a high speed gear for the gas RXV model. I believe the seller is East coast golf cars. Just type in "EZGO RXV gear" in the search bar and you will see the one, and only one, that they offer for that model. It has been a royal pain in my *** to find any performance mods for the RXV as well. This one costs 290.00 and they claim 8-10mph increases. Bigger tires might get you a little more but your bottom end may go to crap if you increase tire size with high speed gears. I want a set of gears that can add a little more top end but for some reason our model just doesn't have many options for upgrades as opposed to the TXT or RXV electric models. I have asked the same question as you on this site over the past year and gotten little to no help. I will buy that set gears on Ebay and post what gains I do or don't get. I am really wanting a little over 30 mph top end but with those 10:1 gears as my only option and my 12" rim with low profile tires I doubt I'll achieve it.

I don't think the gas rxv has a limited slip diff I think that was only on the eletric model with the brake on the motor

I got 26 mph on the gps by just turning the screw a little on the throttle cable adjustment. it took 2 minutes and it runs great ? also it has more adjustment to go faster but you could start floating valves. 26 mph on a lifted cart is fast enough !

thats why i said adjust the cables. much easier/cheaper, and if you sell it you can revert back to stock easier.

basically the rxv gas is the same as the txt gas with the 13hp eng as far as eng goes. everything else is RXV only.

I have made those adjustments to my 09' RXV and have gotten it up to 30mph but I didn't keep it there because of the high RPM's. I would like to know more about this gear swap also. I backed it down to 17mph but it still has a tendency to backfire. Would adjusting the valves correct this?
