Thinking about a lift, but not so high.
Just kick around the idea here, I don't really NEED a lift, but it would be nice to have just a little extra clearance. Also I don't want to go 4".I want more like 2".
The next thing is, I don't have much cash, but I am a fair hand at fabricating and those lift kits don't seem to be incredibly complicated.Does anyone know of some good detailed pictures I can use for a template? |

Re: Thinking about a lift, but not so high.
I can snap some for you tomorrow - a simple 2" block lift for Marathon should be a fairly easy one, too .. Stay tuned

Re: Thinking about a lift, but not so high.
OK, here goes ... This firstpic shows the basic rear spring extender, as well as the simple shackles that extend the lower shock mount:
This is the front: basically a block that goes between spring and axle, as well as a simple shock extender: If you decide to fab something up, I would be glad to measure things up for you, but it's a pretty simple concept ... Keep in mind though that a full 4" kit will only run you around $60-ish shipped, so if you can live with an extra couple of inches (4 instead of two) it might almost be less hassle and screwing around to just buy one (or even if you HAVE to have 2", buying one and cutting it down, for that matter) |

Re: Thinking about a lift, but not so high.
$60?!The dude at Tristate told me f-ing $300!!!I figured for that price I'd just do it myself and have exactly what I wanted. But for $60 I can live with an extra 2".Is this an e-bay item or one of the sponsors?Man am I ever glad i found this forum. Thanks a million again Brew!!!
*EDIT* Just checked E-bay and they're salty as heck there too.Cheapest one I see is $144.I definitely don't want anything made in China either.Where did you get yours at?It looks like it isn't too bad to build the kit, but if I can get it non Chinese for $60 I think I'd go for it.Just for the simple fact that everything is square, the metal is rated for the job, and all the nuts and bolts are already found for you. |

$59 plus shipping (which sucks at $20 but still a FAR cry from $300, wow ...) - there is also an ebay seller named "ATV Expert" who does a kit for $85 shipped, that's the kit I used - but you have to watch his auctions for when he puts the kits on "sale" to get them for around $60-70 shipped (of course right NOW they're at regular price, go figure) As to the install, provided you have a buddy to help, a set of jackstands and a floor jack, figure about an hour or so front to back - double that and add beer if you try and do it yourself (it CAN be done, but trust me, get a helper :) |

That's the same lift I bought for my cart. Its a simple lift. I installed it myself and wasn't too bad. It took me longer to align the the front end when I was done lifting it. The only problem I had with mine was I had to grind the welds down on the rear coil pads on the rear end cause the spacers wouldn't slide on.
