Gas Gauge

SO I did a search to no avail... I still have to get my cart running, but I have had an idea (not sure how original), is there a way to make a gas gauge that can be mounted in a dash to work with our tanks?

Thought it would be cool to have.

First of all where is your tank located? Secondly there's a guy on ebay that makes custon gas caps for golf carts with the fuel gauge in the cap. Give me a few and I will find my invoice and give his email address.

Looks pretty straightforward, but I'd be a tad nervous RE having to wire it up (spark and fuel work well together INSIDE the motor, but not so much at the fuel cell, I would assume ...)

Definitely a case for SOLDERED and SHRINKWRAPPED connections, that's for sure !!!

The part connection I'm referring to makes the stock type w/gauge in custon lengths. I think mine was $23 plus shipping.

I pulled my mechanical cap/guage off a 1970 Bombadier 399 - exact length and surprisingly, NOT too faded/hazed from the years, LOL

Whatever works. I didn't have one at all. I wanted one with a gauge so when I'm at the track I know when to load it up before I get stranded and have to push it or get towed to my trailer.

You'd be surprised at how little danger there is. Nearly every car on the road these days has an in-tank electric fuel pump with exposed connections. The gas fumes need to mix with a lot of oxygen to ignite, far more than there is in the tank even when empty. Gas in its liquid state is pretty hard to ignite as well, it's only when enough fumes have mixed with the surrounding air that it will ignite.
