My first smoker.. don't know the year...
This is my first gas cart... Bought it on the 4th on a whim...
Fell for the, "got somebody else coming to look at it." Gave $400 for it.... Don't know enough about the smokers to know the year . Or if I got snookered.... Runs strong forward and reverse... A little vibrating in the rear end wide open.. Is there a rev limiter? Don't want to blow it up first day... Looks like they welded angle iron on the front axles to start a lift... Any info and or help would be appreciated. Attached a few pictures.. Thanks ! Donnie .. Birmingham, AL |

Re: My first smoker.. don't know the year...
Donnie,
You fell on your feet that is quite the bargain. You have a circa 1990 EZGO Marathon with the 3PG engine. It is solid and reliable and will give you many years of service. The 3PG was an improvement on the 2PG and gives you an extra 2hp for a total of 11hp. It looks clean and tidy and the levers on the top of the differential in image 3 are your governor. If it is set correctly it limits you to 12 mph and once you are familiar with the engine you might end up unscrewing it for a moderate speed increase. As you will see here people like to fit a lift kit and bigger tires. If you go that route 20+mph is possible although you should bear in mind that stopping is also an issue. The PG series of engine had an oil delivery system which injected a metered amount of two stroke oil for lubrication. Many drivers like to disconnect that and simply premix the gasoil. You should check to see if this has been done and if it has you will need to mix your own fuel at 1 gallon gas to 1 ounce of oil. Once again, congratulations you found a real bargain. Dave |

1990
Thanks Dave ! The serial plate was missing from the dash... The oil reserve bottle has been disconnected, the hose plugged, and now mixing oil in the gas... |
