Default whats the best ethenol stabilizer?

I have used sta-bil but I still get crud in carb. Is there any products that work just for the crud that ethenol leaves behind? Between the 4 wheelers, cycles, cart, and all the lawn stuff I have 10 plus things that need to be kept up on. Thanks loflyer

The best so far is Star-Tron by Star-Brite.Its' a blue bottle, they sell it at Tractor-Supply,Home-Depot,Auto-Zone,etc...It makes a noticeable performance difference fairly quik too.My buddy put it in his Harley at a picnic(thats where we found out about the stuff),by the time he got home it was running different. It displaces the Alcohol. The biggest problem with Ethanol is that if you don't run the tank down, you continue to increase the % of Ethanol and Water in the tank, since they sink to the bottom. The best method is to drain the tanks yearly(end of season is best),refill with fresh fuel, add Star-Tron,then run it for at least an hour to make sure the additive gets thru the carb.Hope this helps.

Best thing to do about Ethanol is stay as far away from it as you can.

What people don't realize or know is that Ethanol is a close relative to Methanol. They don't run good in cold-weather,water is absorbed easily, they are very corrosive to aluminum.I've got a 87' Chevy with TBI,The throttle-body is all pitted from the fuel!It was fine a few years ago when I was driving it daily, then when it became my plow-truck for home,it started having fuel-system issues.Thats' when I found the corrosion.Alcohol,Ethanol,Methanol burn 3x faster than Gas,they really need colder plugs as well. Why do you think the car-makers went to "Flex-Fuel" and plastic fuel-systems?To protect the fuel-system and make it run on this crap they are selling us.Run a tank of E-85,and watch your fuel-milage drop like a rock!Guy I work with did it,he lost 8 mpg instantly!

I too have been looking for an awnser to the ethonal problem. Seems I've cleaned a thousand carbs in the last year Yamaha had a parts/service notification last month about an addative, I better go back and look at it (the problem is Yamaha stuff can be alittle pricey and I have to buy a certin quantity). Went to an auto parts store the other day to look whats available and only saw "Heat" and "Staybil", shure would have thought there would have been more available. As for buying gas with no Ethonal....not in my area

reg gas is 87 octane. mid range is 89 and they put 10% ethanol in it to get that 2 point boost. Now go online and see what the BTU of gas is. Now look at ethanol. They sell this ethanol crap to us at a .10 discount from the regular price. You lose MPG in a car with ethanol.

Take a cup of ethanol and a cup of water. Mix the two together and you will end up with 1.5 cup of whatever. Where did the other cup go? The ethanol molecule is bigger than water. The water molecule fits inside the ethanol molecule. That is how "heat" works.

Or so I am told :)

At last check,Sta-bil still wasn't working as it should with Ethanol.People are still having issues.Everyone that I told about Star-Tron swears by it,and I haven't had anything come back gummed up.I work on everything from Weed-Wackers to Semis' ,so I see alot of engines in a year, and every small-engine needs a fuel-system cleaning. We can get Non-Ethanol here in a few places, but its' quite a bit more per gallon too.

Star-Tron is made by Star-Brite,a Marine-Chemical supplier, any boat supplier should have it.Locally I buy it from Home Depot,Tractor-Supply,Auto-Zone,and Walmart. The small bottle(I think its' 8 or 10oz.)is around $6,and treats almost 60gal.You mix it double the first treatment, then its' only half that dosage after that.My buddy ran it in his Uplander,He called me and asked if I noticed any difference in my stuff with it.He said he actually noticed he wasn't pushing on the gas as hard as usual(his Uplander had 1000lbs.of tools,etc..in it).The stuff works, everyone around here has been using it and notices the improvement in power and mileage. My lawnmower uses about 3/4 of a tank to do my yard, with Star-Tron,it uses less than 1/2 a tank.Thats a 3 gal. tank on a 20hp Zero-Turn mowing almost 3-acres.
