"Loudest Cart in the Park!"
In complete ignorance of these machines, I bought this 1990 EZGO Marathon Gas cart about a month ago. It makes a loud rapid clicking sound when the engine is running, moving forward or backward. At a certain speed the noise mostly subsides until the speed is reduced and the clicking returns. The best I can describe it is when I used to pin baseball cards on my bike to rattle the spokes. Any ideas as to where to look to resolve this issue; it's a real "attention getter!" Thanks

I would look and the weights in the drive clutch, make sure your belts are both tight and one doesnt have a split, and if neither of those remove the big belt...run cart in neutral and see if noise is still there...if not its either your driven clutch of rear end...

That sounds reasonable. I will try that and see. Is the clutch "repairable" or do you get a new/good unit instead? I don't even want to think about the rear end needing work. Thanks

^^^
Depending on the issue with the clutches you can repair them. That being said it may be easier and make more sense to just replace them depending on the situation. Basically, deciding whether to repair or replace depends on what the issues is (and how much you want to spend/do). |

I have seen many people spend good money to repair them only to be dissapointed with it breaking again soon afterward...remember you get what you pay for... |
