ezgo marathon overheating maybe?
hi i recently descovered an issue with my ezgo gas golf cart its an 1985 marathon.... how easy do they over heat? while driving yesturday for maybe 20 mins it stopped kind of like the break locked but the break didnt and once it came to a hault it wouldnt turn over after i lifted the seat and let it sit for 30 secs it started again. once i had got to my destination it was driven probably for another hour then did this again and i could tell that it was really hot. i know that pouring water on it is bad but i did it anyway and after it sat for a few mins after that it fired right up.... i would have to guess it overheated and it was a pretty hot day out also my main jet came out and for a brief fix i put a m6 bolt into it since i fixed and i fastened it all the way down. could that have something to do with it i depend on this cart and dont like having to worry wether i will make it to my destination or not someone please help

Hi jack. I have exactly the same problem. I have been tearing my hair out trying to solve it but no luck. What was the outcome. how did you overcome this problem.

The correct fuel mix is 128:1. That's 1oz oil/1gal of gas.

Need more oil mix. Drying up the rings and it seizes until cool down. Don't do that very much or you will need new rings and maybe more if not already.

Re: ezgo marathon overheating maybe?
Already put new fuel pump, new carb kit, swapped the coil. Runs great for 10-15 minutes then appears to seize up. Engine very hot. Fuel possibly has too much oil rather than not enough. Can timing be the cause of the overheating. Plug always black and wet.

Re: ezgo marathon overheating maybe?
There is a metal shield that covers the cylinder, and head. See if there is a lot of crap packed in between the fins that could be blocking airflow from the fan.
