Default Torque question 1983 ezgo

Is the shorter belt and the stronger springs in the driven clutch thing an "either or" type of mod or will my hill climbing abilities benefit from both mods... Right now I am getting a little belt slippage when I climb hills with 2 people on board but not bad with just me... It is at stock ride height and 18" tires but I plan on starting my custom drop forward front axle lift soon and throwing the big tires and wheels on it soon. I know from my big bore atv experience that you can have ur clutch sheaves machined with a pattern to increase belt grab. Is that available with golf carts as well?

Thanks

Also is the bored out with oversize piston that noticeable... I am wanting to pull every little bit of power out of this stock motor to turn the big tires on the hills.

Thanks
Brody

Shorter belt will get it done but it will take a bit to break it in. It will seem like it's dragging at first when starting and a pain if you try to push it but will climb. You also may just need a new stock belt as yours may be worn it will be smoother shifting and more user friendly.

Disassemble the Drive-Clutch(engine),it can stay on the motor, just pull the center-bolt and 3 cover-bolts.Add a 3/16" shim under the spring.Don't do any other mods to the drive-system such as short-belt,heavier Secondary-Spring.With this shim on a lifted,22"-tire cart, the difference is nite/day!Hope this helps.

This mod is better than the shorter belt mod?

I need a new belt anyway so my question is, is it possible do the 3/16 shim and the shorter belt mod together to have even more torque than with just one or the other? Or do they both accomplish the same thing in just different ways? I am really wanting to go with 23" tires since I want to lift it about 6" and drop the front axle forward. I just want to make sure I have some options in upgrading my torque if it is too doggy with the bigger tires

I tried the shorter belt, wasn't real impressed.I shimmed the clutch and it made a very noticeable difference off-road,but was still very "stock-feeling" under normal yard-use.The washer I use is a 1-1/8" U-Bolt Washer, availiable at any automotive-spring shop.It will cost you less than $1!Give it a try,Let me know your thoughts.I did it with 22"-tires,never ran it with stock-tires.
