Default Favor from any one with a 295 4 stroke ezgo

I'm trying to narrow down an electrical problem in a 1994 work horse and am looking for someone who could try something for me. I think my coil or cdi is faulty. If I pull one spark plug wire off it will run on 1 cylinder but choppy. When I put that wire back on and pull the other cylinder spark plug wire off, it won't run at all. If I switch the spark plug wires on the opposite cylinders, the same spark plug wire will run the other cylinder. I was wondering if someone who has this engine could just pull one spark plug wire off at a time and see if yours will run on each cylinder by itself? Thanks so much to anyone who can offer a hand.

I know from experience that it will run with only one plug firing.

The one that I'm working on fires on one cylinder but wont on the other. If I switch the wires to opposite cylinders it will fire the other cylinder. But it's always the same plug wire that fires either cylinder. The other plug wire wont fire either cylinder by itself. I just want to know for sure that this motor will run choppy on either cylinder with its own plug wire. If someone could go to their cart and test that for me, I would be very grateful. Thank you

Both plugs fire at the same time. I haven't seen one where just one side of the coil goes bad. If the wires are good and the ends are staked good then may need a coil

It has 12v coming into the coil. I have run several extra grounds including one from the coil mount and it has the same outcome. It has spark on both wires when I ground out the plugs but one seems to have more firing power for some reason when in the cylinders. I took both plug wires out of the coil and switched them and both wires will fire a cylinder when put on the one same side of the coil. I'm trying to fix this for a friend and it has been a nightmare. It has a brand new motor and is lacking power mid range. I know motors and have tried everything with this. It has a brand new carb, valves are perfectly adjusted, timing is on, new pulsar coil, re-clutched drive clutch and rebuilt driven clutch with new performance belt. He said when he put the new motor in a puff of smoke came from the voltage regulator area. He has tons of money into this cart and I think it's either the coil or cdi but we all know how much those two parts run. I just want to make sure it's one of the two before he replaces. He has had it into 3 different dealers and they can't figure it out. I have yet to have a motor problem defeat me so I'm trying to tap every resource. It revs up like brand new in neutral but as soon as you drive it, it will bogs at mid range. It flys up until mid range then lacks power. It barely makes it up hills. On a straight away it will wind out and fly.

If someone could just pull off one plug wire at a time and see if it runs choppy on each cylinder of their cart, that would greatly help my narrowing down of the problem. Thanks

The plug wires are threaded into the coil. switch them, if the problem move to the other side, install new wires.

Sounds like an ignition wire problem. Those wires are detachable and you can buy a replacement set cheap.

I know it's not the plug wires. When I swap them onto the other side of the coil, each one will fire, only it's on just one side of the coil. I just got a used CDI today and am going to put that on to see if it helps. Other wise the only other thing left is the coil. Thanks though guys
