Default Confused about how hard my stock gas EZGO should pull, problem or normal?

Hi guys! I missed a "newbie forum" where I'm supposed to say "hello" and you're all supposed to pretend like you care about me- :) but it was actually refreshing to not have to do that, so thanks!

I just bought my first golf cart, and man is it beautiful! It is a gas powered 1994 EZ GO with an all metal body, great shape/clean and bone stock, except a lift, wheels, and tires! It sure is beautiful! I'm going to get you a photo, I'd love hear (can't wait) your opinions and thoughts as I'm new to all of this.

I paid 2300 cash, with a clean title, and it seems to start run and drive great. Here are my three questions;

1) When I test drove it with the seller, he and I (two full grown men of regular build) drove it around his neighborhood which was very "hilly" and I did notice it struggled a bit to get up hills- it did make it, but I noticed he was standing on the gas, the motor went up in rpm, and the cart seemed to go (roughly) slightly less than half of it's top speed- it made me feel like it should've pulled more- when I agreed to buy it, I set up two ramps leading into my regular height 2x4 Dodge pickup, and that cart wasn't having any of it, I got about half way up and it sat sat there... I had to back up and just hit the ramps running to get the cart into the truck- is this normal in your opinion?

2) I don't even know what I have, can anyone tell me? Will work on getting a photo in here now-

3) I am looking for a service manual so right out of the gate I can check/change change my plugs, oil, rear end fluid, belt deflection etc.- anyone know where to buy one or know these obvious things? Thank you!

(Sorry I've tried to post a photo of my cart but it says I have to wait 7 days to post photos)

Welcome to BGW

if you haven't of pasted up the Introduction section you would have learned how to post a pic, ------------ J/K but i'll tell you how to post a pic,,you can post a pic, you just cant post a link,,, and yes it is normal for your cart to not pull up a hill or ramps in to the truck with a lift and big tires, a shorter belt may help you, but there is a few things to check first, here is a link to figure out what yeat your cart is,

I'm not running an EZGO anymore but on my old one, the first thing I did was replace the belt with one 1/2 shorter. It forces the engine to hold torque for pulling at slow speeds.

Sweet thanks, I wonder if anyone else that is here and has my cart has done this? I'm curious which part number they used and what the results were-

If you don't get a response from a member with the same cart who has done this, look up the stock belt specs. Most of the part numbering systems will tell you info like width and length. Just choose one 1/2 inch shorter.

Thanks guys! The 1/2" shorter belt doesn't work the clutch, sacrifice speed, or cause any other stress on the shafts/bearings etc.?

No...it just rides in a different location in the two clutches. The only thing I noticed with my old cart was when it was coasting down hill. It would kinda catch every now and then but doesnt hurt anything.
