Im going to pick up my first cart friday.Im new to the cart seen,it is a 1997 ezgo gas in really good shape. its all original, wanting to lift it and put tires on it. what is going to be the best lift for the money, not wanting the most expensive made, probably 4'' of 5'' lift? also if you guys know what the stock rim size is and how big of a tire can i put on it.

Welcome Dewsey! How you use the cart will determine what kind of lift you need/want. Assuming it's a TXT, a couple of friends of mine are running the All Sports lift kits and they haven't given any trouble but we don't beat our carts very hard.

My personal experience is with the 'cheaper' solution spindle lift kit.. It's good enough for the look of a lifted golf cart, however, it doesn't add anything in terms of better suspension, more travel, etc... I installed 12" rims and Carlisle Alltrails. Don't have any complaints, since I don't do a lot of off-roading...
You can check my Avatar for a better reference or check out the following link (hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by posting this link) http://forums.cartpartsplus.com/viewtopic.php?t=1228 |

As with most lifts you need bigger, offset rims or wheel spacers for clearance. About the biggest tires for a 8" rim are 22". I think the drop axle lifts are better than spindle lifts, spindle lifts are for tractors and riding lawnmowers, they multiply the amount of leverage on your steering, axle and suspension components. Many people use spindle lifts and have had no problems with them, I guess it depends on how much abuse you put your cart through. EZ_Go has already designed a drop axle lift for your cart and sells the kits or parts to do that. The all sport lifts are a good choice also, One of my carts has an Allsports lift and for three years my wife and kids have tortured it with no problems.
