244 robing rebuild - 1979 Engine

we have a 244 robin 1979 2pg engine, we are in process of rebuilding the engine. All engine kits show 1980 and up. Kits appear to be similiar but 1980 and up have 3 main bearings 6206 where as our engine has 3 - 6206 bearings plus a 4th 6205 bearing. I believe it is called a commentator bearing. Earlier versions had the internal Hitachi Starter/ Generator. Does anyone know if the newer engine kits will work with this engine, with the exception of the extra bearing required. Gaskets, Pistons, bearings etc. Or does anyone know where I can order a 1979 engine rebuild kit. Is there a variation of the gaskets etc.
Also is the crank different if I end up requiring this too? thanks Julie

im sure you can still get a top end kit for a 79.
(i know golfcarcatalog.com has them)
as far as the crank goes there about impossible to find.
im not sure about the 80's and up but they must be dif.
cuz 1980 always seems to be the breaking point on all the old ezgo's.
as far as gaskets, etc, etc. you should be able to find for a 79

search online, then call em.
