1988 not getting gas
So the other day, after hours of tinkering and tuning, I got my 1988 running fairly strong and consistent. Well Sunday morning I got on it to run across the property and it didn't seem to want to stay running at low RPM's. To me it seems like its not getting fuel during start-up but if I feather the pedal and be "nice" to it then it'll take off. The fuel filter fills then drains empty but as soon as the engine takes off it fills up fully. WTH is going on? Some have said that the valves need to be adjusted and others say the fuel pump may need to be replaced/rebuilt. Any idea are GREATLY appreciated!!

Re: 1988 not getting gas
Well i located the problem and now i think i might have a bigger issue. The needle valve vibrated out of the top of the carb and i can't figure out where to find one without buying a new carb

Re: 1988 not getting gas
I thought the needle valve was in the float bowl? Are you talking about a mixture screw?

Re: 1988 not getting gas
Not to rain on anyones parade, but the new needle valve HAS to be from another 1988 cart or it won't work - 1988 was the only year EZGO used the BV24 carb instead of the standard BV18 used on every other year's 2-stroke motors ... On the upside though, most cart suppliers actually stock these as it's fairly common for them to get lost, etc - they should charge you somewhere between $8-14 plus shipping and you'll be back on the road, if I remember correctly you tighten it down gently then back it off one and a half turns and You should be running, you have the option of tweaking it from there if You'd like.

Re: 1988 not getting gas
I'd give a couple of the site sponsors a call - the ones who are authorized EZGO dealers should be abe to order it for You if they don't have it in stock (which would definitely be a longshot) ... I bought one for my 1988 off Ebay a couple of years ago, but I just did a fast prowl around there and didn't see one

Re: 1988 not getting gas
From the picture you sent me I am sure the mixture screw on my old carb is on the back side of the cart not the front side of the picture you sent me. I will double check this morning.
