1988 ezgo engine swap
Any one out there know of any swaps that have been made with success? I have 2 of the old robin engine 244 cc 2 strokes and would like to go to a 4 stroke something.

Re: 1988 ezgo engine swap
At this time neither is up for sale. One is part way tore down, as it was when i bought the cart, motor was running but has broken flanges, good compression ect. The other is complet but in need of a total rebuild, I picked up this one at an EZGO dist in Cincinnati. If I can come up with a swap both will be up for grab's

Re: 1988 ezgo engine swap
problem with the 2/4 stroke swaps is the 2 stroke run the engine backwards for reverse the 4 stroke have reverse built into the rearend

Re: 1988 ezgo engine swap
I understand that, but why couldn't a 4 stroker could be run in reverse with only the starter generator doing the work. If you ground out the ignition at the fdw / rev selector so it wouldn't attempt to fire????

Re: 1988 ezgo engine swap
i dont believe thats possible since the 2 stroke motor
runs forward & reverse, not the rear end (unless you dont need reverse) |

Re: 1988 ezgo engine swap
I know the 4 stroker will not run on its own in reverse....But the starter generator could be used for a reverse motor. As long as the ignition on the engine is grounded out so it would not fire.......
