EZ GO Gas Gone SOuth
Alright. I bought an 2006 EZ Go gas with the 350 Robin engine. It has thrown a rod and was driven quite a bit after. Metal shavings are pretty bad. Any suggestions? rebuild, buy rebuilt, ?. Thanks

I agree - it's a bit more "work", but You can (from what I've read over there) do a complete swap for about $600-700 with engine and end up with 16hp using a Duromax clone as versus the stock 11-13hp (or spend at least that much on a rebuild, almost twice that for a new rebuilt engine)

which clone? looks like alot of possibilities. I am trying to make this easy. Reliability seems to be an issue with many. I have someone that will do a rebuild.

Re: EZ GO Gas Gone SOuth
Would you rebuild if rod was thrown. Metal shavings everywhere but everything else looks ok

More than likely you are going to need a new crank and thats the expensive part.

Sure that engine can be rebuilt, as long as everything checks out good, like the other rod, crankshaft, counter balance shaft, etc

Re: EZ GO Gas Gone SOuth
Well if its like most they ran it out of oil n locked the connecting rod to the crank thus breaking it in half. So the aluminum rod is gaulded to the crank since there are no bearings. The crank will have aluminum buildup on it. Some sand it off and use it but from the ones I have been around after that they are noisy.

All the parts will have to be taken to a machine shop to be checked and measured
