Do I need wheel spacers?
81 Marathon. Had new tires installed on my stock rims. Tires are 18x9.50x8 Kenda Sqorpions. No lift kit on the cart, amd dont have plans to lift it. Did a quick mock up with the cart on jack stands. Noticed that the passenger side is going to rub on the square arm that connects to the spindle. I should have ordered a more narrow tire for the fronts, but I jumped on these cause I got a good deal. Didn't think they would rub, but it appears I was wrong. So I'm assuming a need spacers. Just wondering if spacers are going to cause the tires to rub on the apron when turning, or under load? Anyone else running this size on a non lifted cart?

Re: Do I need wheel spacers?
My last tires were smooth "normal" golf course tires. They were 18x8.5, these are 18x9.5 with knobby tread.

Re: Do I need wheel spacers?
It's not rubbing horrible, but rubbing nonetheless. I thought about using washers, but wasnt sure if using them was a no no. I would say 5 to 7 washers would do it.

Re: Do I need wheel spacers?
I wouldn't stack that many...it would put too much stress on the studs. I did find a 1 inch set of spacers. If you have enough thread you could do the washer stacked to one inch to install the wheel and see if it will rub the other side before purchasing spacers.

As toy said i wouldnt put any washers behind the wheels. I would buy spacers and keep everyone safe. JMHO

Re: Do I need wheel spacers?
I run (2) 1/2" grade-8 washers per stud behind my R.F. wheel with 22"x11"x-8"s',since I never ordered offset wheels. They have been there almost 5years,and the cart is not treated kindly!I wouldn't go more than that, but 2 will be fine.Just make sure they aren't different thicknesses(they can be from the same batch and be different). Also watch the diameter. The ones I used are about 1-1/8" at the most, too big and they will hit the center of the hub and can cock, causing the wheel to loosen up.Hope this helps.
