Default Successful 4 cycle HEI upgrade

I was having an issue with my 804 intermittently dying out on me. It would stop running like I'd switched off the key. Let it sit for a few seconds and it would start right back up and run for ... 5 mins at times, 5 days at other times before it did it again. It never left me stranded, but it was ... worrisome.

So I decided to do the HEI update.

Pic 1- I fashioned some spades to fit into the coil and bend at 90*.
I also drilled another hole in the coil mounting bracket because I wanted the coil mounted solid, not just hanging on by one bolt. I used the spacers from the original coil to make the new coil stand out far enough I could get my wires behind it.

Pic 2- I mounted the coil and wired her up per a diagram in another post here with one exception. I used one wire coming from the solenoid small + post and then teed that wire to go to the coil and the HEI Module. Didn't see the need for 2 hot wires going that far.

Pic 3- I removed the paint from an area just behind the battery, relocated the fuse box and installed the HEI module with plenty of grease behind it.

Pic 4- I wired it all up, installed new BPR4ES plugs and some new solid core wires I found at NAPA. It's a universal set of wires for a tractor. And voila, off we go!

Since the cart ran very well before the upgrade, I didn't notice any marked improvement in performance. I swapped the wires from the pulsar around and swapped the wires to the coil around about 4011 dozen times and finally settled on which way was best. The good thing is, I haven't had it die a single time so far. Either LOML or I use it a lot on the weekends to take the grandkids for rides and so far, not one single hiccup!

Hope this helps someone else.

Mark
