Default Rebuilding EZGO rear diff

Rebuild an ez-go rear differential

I about ready to rebuild the rear dif to prep it for a Briggs V-Twin. I have all new bearings, seals, brakes and a gear set. I got all of this from Cart Parts Plus. Are there any special tips I should know or is it pretty simple install, Split the case and bolt it back up.

I have all the service parts manuals, service manuals I can reffer to.

Rebuilding one of these rears is just like rebuilding one on a car... you need to pay attention to setting the pinion depth and setting backlash between the pinion and ring gear. Most rears on these carts are Spicer... you can look up a tutorial on setting pinion depth and backlash on youtube. If you do it, you will need a dial indicator with a magnetic stand, carrier bearing shims, a new crush sleeve, and a lumber crayon/paint pen. Sometimes you can get lucky and the gears will bolt in without having to do anything else, but if you're into it that far I would opt to do it right.

i have all the tools and depth gauges ,micrometers etc..ive se up many sets of gears in a car/truck..but this is a 4 stroke ezgo axle..i could be wrong but i dont thnk it has a crush sleeve and stuff the same as a regular rear end..heres what i have.
after talking to tom at cpp i think"hope"the input shaft bearings is all i need other than outter wheel bearings

I was thinking of an earlier EZGO rear end.... they are way different than the 4 stroke ones. Never had one like yours apart (yet)...lol.

there is no back lash to set on an EZGO rear, the gears just fit in there gear to gear and the ring gear just bolts in

There were 2 input shafts used in this differential. One had 21 the other had 22 teeth on the gear drive. All you need to do is mark one tooth and count around to know which one to get. This is a super simple rear end, you could be in and out in a few hours if you have everything on hand. Buy new freeze plugs, it saves welding up the screw holes or other repairs after removing them.

PS
If it is 22 tooth let me know, I have a previously installed set, thanks to a buddy of mine. LOL

thanks scotty i havent looked enough to even no it has freeze plugs lol..
hope i dont forget stuff..i can figure in my head how to weld the spyder gears when the entire diff case around the spider gears is totally enclosed..i no when the ring gear is off you can get to stuff but thats not much room for a mig stinger
so far'
i will be in this for a few days at least i think..unless the bearings all come off easy but nothing been easy lately at busted knuckle garage
