Default Anyone Have trouble with breaking leaf springs ?

Is it a common problem with the front leaf springs to break on a 1983 EZ-Go ? I have a freind that has a cart for sale but he has only had the cart for around two years and he has replaced both front leaf springs and now another one is broken. It is a 1983 (he is pretty sure) with the two stroke engine. It needs carb. work and the leaf spring replaced.
Just wondering if anyone makes a heavy duty leaf spring if this is the case? I plan on lifting it sometime soon if I buy it.
Are these a decent cart ? How do I tell what model it is ?
Thanks so Much ,
Raz

He says they are breaking in the center, what would cause this ? Is there any place that sells HD springs ? Also, what company sells alot of parts at good prices and hop ups also ? I am looking also for a printed catalog for "readin material" :-)
Thanks,
Raz

Thanks also for the warm welcome
BTW: What model would this be or are there different models ?

I believe an '83 is a Marathon. I don't know if you will find any readin material but you should give Tom at Cart Parts Plus a call. He is one of the forum sponsers here and will know about your spring problem.

Carts part plus is ussually alot cheaper, and his shipping always is alot cheaper than most places also. The only way i can think of breaking springs that much is either jumping the cart or he was hitting stuff, if you drive it like you have atleast half a brain it shouldn't be breaking like that.
Anyway about you asking if its a good cart or not i would say its a decent cart, you can still find all the parts you really need because marathons never changed a whole lot suspension wise and the two strokes are fast carts. I dont think they make heavy duty front springs for marathons.

I think I am going to look for a 4 stroke cart instead because I want to lift it and want to have enough takeoff power. Also, then I can Big Block it if I ever decide to do so.
Someday if the guy just decides he wants it out of his barn I will probably take it.
Thanks for all your Input,
Raz

Yeah I just had the same problem passenger side front hath snapped in twain. Of course it might have something to do with me letting my 5 year old boy drive and he decided to jump an 8" curb at about 30mph. I have been looking around and they do make a heavy duty but I think I am just going to weld it.
