Hello, I'm brand new in the cart world and appreciate any help I can get. I am a pretty good shade tree motorcycle machanic but these carts are a different animal. The cart I just bought says WORK HORSE ST350 on the side. The year is unknown and it appears that the ID tag under the dash/glovebox is gone. I have found #'s on the frame: 116c990, transmission: model ME29, serial#98g15546, and engine: Robin EH35C. The front body is plastic and everything else is metal. Has electric dump bed, horn, and front lights. I have looked at the manuals listed in these forums and I see a manual for a workhorse 1200 and manuals for a sport and ST350, but not a Workhorse ST350. I'm confused as to which model I have.
My other question is about the clutches. The cart runs pretty well but is slow to take off and extremely slow up hill, top end is pretty good. The drive clutch can be squezzed together by hand and when I turn it I hear what sounds like a marble dropping inside. I can't spread the driven clutch at all by hand so from what I've read it appears to be ok. The driven clutch has a small gap between the 2 halves at the shaft ( about 1/8-1/4 of an inch ), is this normal? Also, can these clutches be removed with the motor in the cart or do I have to remove the motor first. I'm looking forward to this new project and any advise or help would be appreciated. |

I'm not sure what year yours is, but the ST350 model started in 99 (if I remember right). The workhorse line of carts is made up of several different models with the ST350 being one of them. The ST350 is basically a lifted version of the 1200g that has heavier duty parts for more rugged applications. The ST350 manuals cover your cart, the engine and service manual also apply to your cart as well as others. The drive clutch should not rattle like theres marbles in it, something is wrong. Your driven clutch sounds as if it's good. You can remove the drive clutch with the engine in the cart, you'll need a puller.

Thanks Ruredy, The guy I bought it from thought it was a 99 but did not know for sure. I don't really care what year it is except for buying parts for it. Thanks for clerifying the model for me also. I guess I'll start by pulling the drive clutch. Is there a way to tell if it is bad. Should I be able to squeeze it together by hand pretty easily. I plan to fix it up nice but want to get it running properly first. Thanks again for your reply, Steve
