Default Marathon running issue

I have a Gas EZGO Marathon Golf Cart. The problem I'm having is when you press the gas you can hear the starter generator running and the belts are just a turn, but the motor doesn't start. Then when you pull the choke the engine fires up and the cart runs about 50 feet and cuts off. After that it will not start back up unless its left alone for a while. Any suggestions?

I'm wondering if you are having a siphon issue, or its starving for fuel. What year is the cart? Tank behind seat?

Have you tested anything? Fuel pump...etc?

First gas cart I've worked with. Not really sure where to start. I know the fuel lines are free and clear. I know fuel is getting to the filter (though I don't know if the filter is to big for the pump or if the pump doesn't have the vacuum it used to have to pull it through the filter) I know I have spark. I stuck between the regulator/fuel pump/carb.

Take the line off of the carb, the one coming from the fuel pump. As you turn it over, you should get a decent stream of fuel coming out. If its just burbling, that could be your problem. If your pump is losing vacuum, you might have a damaged diaphragm. All that aside, it REALLY sounds like the issue might be with the carb. Obviously, once choked, the carb is allowing enough fuel to move the cart 50ft. So it is getting "some" fuel. Did this problem start suddenly, or slowly over time?

I would probably check to pump first, just to rule that out. I would then remove the carb, and inspect the float. You may have knocked something loose when you hit the bump. Weird things happen. With the bowl off, and the carb held upside down, the float should sit parallel to the bowl mounting surface. That would also be a good time to inspect the rest of the carb, and clean if necessary.

Ok new update. Carb had build up all around it....cleaned all that off the exterior of the carb just for good measure. Loosened gas cap and road cart for 15 mins. Tightened gas cap and rode a few mins the spit and sputter. Clogged vent cap/ bad gas cap? Vapor lock seems unlikely due to speed of it shutting off orginally, like 5 seconds then shut off.
