dumb question but what are Reeds?
i know it is probably a dumb question but what and where is the location of reeds? i have a 88 marathon was just wandering, how can i check the reeds? thanks

Unbolt intake manifold. The reed valves are under (or bolted behind) the intake. Order of disassembly just to be clear...Carb, intake, then reeds. Make sure they rest flat. Check for debris. Clean well.

the "where" was answered correctly. The "what" is simple. 2 cycle engines do not have valves that open and close for intake and exhaust but use these reeds as a valve system.
