piston placement for 83 ez go 244cc robin

replacing piston rings and didn't notice (forgot) piston was marked with an "ex' on one side of the piston and a "std" directly across from it. does the "ex" mark face the flywheel or does the "std"? the marks run parallel with the piston wrist pin. no arrows or other marks.

The square hole in the piston skirt goes away from the Ex port. It's one of the transfer ports.
