No power, HELP!!
1997 txt 295cc lifted ezgo gas, I have only 1/4 power. Was using it evey day then one day it happened. There is gas blowing back through the carb into the airbox on every rev of the engine. It will eventually fill my airbox with raw gas. Ive changed the oil, brand new carb, new plugs and wires, fresh gas, cleaned all filters, and adjusted the valves. Compression is a little low at 110 in each cylinder, but not convinced its the problem. Thought it was maybe a plugged exhaust but nope, took off and checked. Wanted to check the timing but the cover cant come off unless i remove the clutch, Argg. Ideas?

Re: No power, HELP!!
That happened to me once matt, It was the float stuck, If you put the cart in neutral and start and rev it up you can see if gas is coming out of the overflow pipe, If their is gas coming out the float is stuck, don't take but a small bit of dirt to cause the float to stick, mine still ran when this happened, had to change oil because gas got in the oil from the float being stuck, good luck

Re: No power, HELP!!
What did you set the valves at, .004" ? Valves adjusted too tight will cause low compression. The cam lobes need to be pointing straight down when adjusting the valves.

Re: No power, HELP!!
Matt, pull the carb and go through it.
No telling how long it sat on a shelf in a sweltering warehouse. the needle could have some junk in it from the fuel lines. |

Re: No power, HELP!!
I would pull the head and check for valve recession. The compression is way to low.
