Default Timing advance

Has anyone made up a new timing lobe for a 80's ez go? I see it bolts to the back of the flywheel. it has two bumps on it one to trigger forward and one for reverse, If you were to grind the one down and weld and shape up a new one for the forward position i'm sure you could put a bunch of timing in it
Anyone thought on this one yet??

I wish I had another one to play with, don't really want to kill the only one I have in case things go horribly awry. Not that that's ever happened :)

The engine is already running at 20 BTDC (or it should be) so I am not sure what more advance would give you. In any case it would be a lot easier to modify the ring that holds the pulsar to allow it to move further round.

If you move the pulsar to advance it in forward it retards it in reverse... that would be the reason to just modify the forward running lobe on the flywheel. When I do it I'll let you know the out come!!

Agreed and I am not trying to persuade you not to do it, I for one would be interested in the result. My point, however, is that it would be easier for you to wind the pulsar ring around to say 30 degrees BTDC to see what improvement you get in forwards. Then accepting the fact that the engine is now running at 10 degrees BTDC in reverse see how it performs. If I were to gain a bucket full of mph in forwards and only get 5 mph in reverse that would be an acceptable trade (for me).

Anyway give it a go and post your results I am curious.
