Default 76 2stroker boggin down, im stumped

the 1st. mistake i made was lent my cart to a friend.
2nd. mistake = ran out of gas.
3rd. mistake = he gassed only (NO OIL!)for 9 holes of golf
4th. mistake = he put to much oil in after the fact (50/1)

anyway, when i got it home it ran terrible.
cuttin out, no speed at all, it runs but it cant rev.
its not backfiring tho.
even with no load it has a miss, but will rev

i tore it down yesterday;
rings good, compreshion good, crank seals good,
connecting rod bearing good.
leaky gaskets (fixed them).
timing set at .013
tore down & cleaned the carb complete.
drained the tank and put new gas in (128/1)
fuel pump working good.
new spark plug.

well, NONE OF IT HELPED !!

i loosened the exhaust, it didnt help
seems to me that its starving for gas, when i pull the spark plug its dry.
its got spark but seems kinda weak. (coil maybe?)

any suggestions are very much apreciated!!

thanks, dew

I think you answered it in your second to last sentance- seems to me that its starving for gas, when i pull the spark plug its dry.
Good spark- ok
Compresion-OK
Fuel-? Can you adjust the carb and get it to run rich? Just a question have you check the fuel filter (i know but it was worth asking). Another thought what is the psi these fuel pumps are suposed to push out? Is there a chance that the fuel pump is on its way out?
Just some thoughts...

How much compression does it have now? Running that long with no oil isn't good and I would be surprised, shocked even if there was no damage from that.

well here we go.
honed the jug (slightly scored)
new rings & gaskets
(i didnt check compression, but it seems strong)
i reset the timing over & over again.
spark seems pretty good.
cant find any problem with the crank seals.
its getting gas, but not sure if enuf
(put my finger in the plug hole and getting very little
fuel. put my hand over the carb and getting plenty of fuel.
so i checked the reed plate, seems ok.)

she starts right up, but has a miss with no power.

is there any way to bypass the the switches and run the motor outside the cart?

i am open to all suggestions !!

help me, Dew

Do you have the piston in with the cutouts facing the carb?
Does the carb have good gaskets sealing it off?
How long have you run it this last sorta rebuild?

i have the piston in the right way.
getting 120# of compression

i am leaning towards electrical issues.
this old cart runs off the old points & condenser style w/internal starter.

when i watch the points open and close when its running it seems
to be missing a spark now and then.
i have readjusted them from .011 to .017 with no change
i havent reset the static plate with the flywheel marks cuz it was running great so i dont expect that to be able to move outta position.
could the coil or condenser be goin out or would they just quit completely?
it does run with some rev when it has no load(still a slight miss)
when i put a load on it she'll run with no top end speed and misses a bit more
the more gas i give here.

THEN ON THE OTHER HAND, i have not tried a new carb gasket (it looks fine?)
when i shut it down and pull the plug its pretty dry.
if its missing a beat shouldnt have a little gas built up on the plug?
BUT if i choke it when running it kills it. (im baffled!)

keep the ideas & suggestions comoing, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

THANKS, Dew

I used to have an old Internal S/G Robins, when i sold it (sold it to the lady next door to me) it started running like you describe. I had just had it gone through (piston rings ect//
but i didn't have the cart for the guy to try it after he was done; took it back and he replaced the condenser. It now runs perfect. The man put an external condenser that slides over the coil.

This may be your problem

Good luck

what kind(brand) of condenser is it?
were did he get it?
i think i still have the old one somewhere and if i can find it i am gonna try it.
i heard that the after market condensers are pretty much junk and thats whats on it.

can anyone tell me how to set the timing marks on the fly wheel?
i have tried moving the static plate every direction and it makes no difference.

as i think back when it started going wrong was no oil in the gas,
after the fact i honed the cylinder & new ringswith 110# comp.
could it still need a new top end rebuild?
cuz as it runs with any length of time i can here a knock every so often.

any thoughts on carb problems; when i pull the plug, stick my finger in
and hit the pedal i am not getting any gas mist or moisture at all.
when i choke it when running it dies.

all suggestions very much needed

THIS THING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY, NEVER THOUGHT I SAY THIS
BUT I MIGHT HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP ( OR SCRAP IT FOR JUNK)

Thanks, Dew

It sounds to me as if it's sucking air into the crankcase (other than through the carb) or there enough piston blow-by into the crankcase to dilute the fuel mix. I guess it could be a point/condenser issue but given the fact it only started after it was run so long with no oil makes me believe it's somehow damaged
