advice on 88 ezgo reeds!
Ok after many dead ends and lots of $, I tracked down a friend of mine who builds 2 cycle dirt bike engines. I described the problem I was having and he said it sounded like dirty reeds. He was very clear that he had no clue of golf carts or how to work on them. So my question is how and what do I need to clean and check the reeds in my cart? He also mentioned flipping them and looking for "DAYLIGHT" around them.
I know I have to remove the carb and intake to get to them but not clear what to do after that. I looked and couldnt find any replacements so any tricks/advice will be appreciated. Cleaning, checking, repairing. Ive tried everything else might as well try this too. |

I'm by no means an expert on that, but when you take it apart, if the reeds aren't flat and sealing, then you have a problem. I just sent took some measurements and sent a CAD drawing in to Boyesen to see I they have any off the shelf reeds, like maybe the 650, that will fit our series.

Yes the boyesen # 650 will fit our carts. It should fit flat with no daylight. I dont have any experience with them but shouldn't carb cleaner work to clean them?

Re: advice on 88 ezgo reeds!
I plan on checking them today, weather permitting! I hear unless you know what you are looking for reeds are hard to diagnose. The boyeson #650, has anyone had any experience with them? Hopefully mine are just dirty but I seriously doubt it. The way my luck has been with this cart. I would like to have a plan B. Does nt look like the cart will be running for me and my sons skeet tournament this weekend. Maybe next time
If someone has tried the boyeson reeds, I would much appreciate any info! And a part # would be nice! Thanks |

Re: advice on 88 ezgo reeds!
I found out that Boyesen will only go back to 1990 as far as records, are the reeds the same. Ive heard they will work. But I need to be sure before I fork over $36. That is if mine are bad. Hoping tbey are only dirty!
