EZ GO Gas Robins 350cc Crankshaft Gear Slipped
I have a 97 EZGO With a gas engine. Had a bad knock so I decided to pull the engine and take a look inside. What I found is that the Connecting rods are coming in contact with the Balancer Shaft. From the looks of things I'd have to say that the gear on the end of the crankshaft slipped. Not too sure if this is the case or not but it looks like the balancer is solid state. If I retard the gear markings 3 spaces the rods will clear the balancer shaft. Now I know this can effect a lot. How ever when I line the marks as I stated the pistons are top dead and the timing grear mark as well as the the key way are where the Manuel places them. Will the engine run once I put it back together. Has anyone had this happen to their cart. Any advice would be great.

Re: EZ GO Gas Robins 350cc Crankshaft Gear Slipped
When the pistons are at top dead center and the Balancer shaft keyway is up at 12:00 the engine will be in time no matter where the gear markings are located.
Crankshaft gear mark is at 3:00 when the pistons are at TDC. Balancer shaft gear mark is at 9:00 when the keyway is up at 12:00. |
